Personally, I’ve been waiting for this feature for some time, because it will allow me to move my “friends” (many of which are more than Twitter because I’ve never met), page and create a new profile for a more personal with people who really know. Although a case might be little ‘more limited, it would be a welcome addition for those who had previously been a little’ too slow for them as part of their network Facebook.
Facebook has allows users to convert their personal profile in Facebook page. Although the terminology is often unclear, a significant difference between the two functions is that users can simply “as” a page while they are “friend” (a relationship with each other) profile, which makes the pages a much better solution for companies and public figures.
A help page explains the new tool, Facebook describes what happens when you change:
“Note that when converting the profile to a page, profile images will be transferred, and all your friends will be added automatically as people who like to your page. No other content will be transferred to the new page, so be sure to copy security of all important content before starting the migration.”
Migration is now irreversible, so you can load your profile information – including photos, wall posts, messages and friend lists – before making the change.
With the tool, the main purpose of Facebook seems to be companies and public figures who have already created a profile rather than a page. Beyond having a set of slightly different features, the profiles also have a limit of 5,000 friends has become a popular recipe for some entities.
